Primero Pro Flexible Joint Compound
Primero Pro Flexible Joint Compound is a specially formulated flexible compound designed to minimize or eliminate joint cracks on hardiflex, gypsum boards, building boards, plywood, and other building materials. It resists cracks caused by structural movement, expansion, and contraction of building materials.
Surface Preparation:
Surface must be clean, dry, and free from dirt, dust, and grease. Sand the surface lightly. Inspect walls and ceilings to ensure that all screws are firmly embedded. Surfaces that are chalking and crumbling must be removed by sanding or scraping.
NOTE: The product is ready to use. However, if settling occurs, mix with a broad wooden stick.
Application for Wall & Ceiling Joints:
Using a metal spreader, apply a thin layer of Primero Pro Flexible Joint Compound into the seam, pressing firmly to prevent air pockets. Spread compound along the seams to make a smooth surface. Let dry for 15 to 30 minutes, 1 hour if seams are deep. After the first layer has dried, apply the second coat along the seams in a smooth stroke. Ensure that the edges are soft and there are no lines or streaks on the compound. This is to minimize sanding and produce better painting results.
Application with Mesh Tape:
Apply a thin layer of Primero Pro Flexible Joint Compound along the seams, approximately 1.5” to 2” wide, on each side of the board. Immediately apply 2” mesh tape and press down onto the joint. Ensure the mesh tape is flat against the wall. Let dry for 30 to 60 minutes. Apply a second coat of flexible joint compound to cover the mesh tape, ensuring a smooth finish. Smooth edges to minimize sanding. Let the mixture dry for 3 to 4 hours, then lightly sand it with 150- or 180-grit sandpaper. Then apply the desired paint.
For overnight or long-term storage, fill the tub with clean water to cover the compound. When ready to use, discard the water and mix with the mixing paddle until homogeneous.
For Waterproofing of Roof Decks and Balconies:
Drying time will be longer in enclosed areas such as bathrooms and underground tanks. Make sure the area is well-ventilated. Apply a third coat if the area is subject to heavy loads or if machines like air handling units, pumps, or exhaust fans are nearby—top with at least 1-inch-thick cement topping for balconies with heavy foot traffic.
Precautions:
Keep out of reach of children—store at room temperature. Keep away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. Keep the container closed when not in use.
